A special blood donor clinic is running in Timmins this week to celebrate a local resident. Francoise Bedard will be donating for her 100th time tomorrow, and Canadian Blood Services is recognizing that milestone. Territory Manager Joanne Drake says that number is unusual and very high. She says it’s not every day they get 100 donations, and calls Bedard a long time donor.

However, Drake does point out tomorrow’s clinic is in need of some help. They are only about 25 per cent booked, which means over 100 appointments need to be filled. She says donating blood means helping someone in need almost immediately, as blood has a very short shelf life. Drake says if you donate blood today or tomorrow in Timmins, within a week that blood is transfused into patients.

The clinic is running today from 12:00pm until 2:30pm and then again from 4:00pm until 7:30pm. The bonus clinic tomorrow runs from 10:30am to 2:30pm. Walk-in appointments are welcome, you can book a time slot online, or by calling 1-888-2-DONATE.
