Timmins man facing explosives charges to make first court appearance tomorrow

The Timmins man facing explosives charges following an incident at Bell Creek Mine is making his first court appearance tomorrow. The 20-year-old was arrested for allegedly misusing mine explosives and related equipment.

Operations at the mine were temporarily suspended while the Timmins Police investigated. The Lake Shore Gold employee is now facing four charges in total, including placing explosives with the intent to destroy or damage property. He was released from custody on strict conditions last week after a bail hearing.

  • One count of Place Explosives Substance with Intent to Destroy or Damage Property
  • One count of Make or Possess Explosives for an Unlawful Purpose
  • One count of Mischief Over $5000
  • One count of Mischief – Interfere with Lawful Use or operations of Property – over $5000
