Kapuskasing fire at Gaston’s not suspected to be suspicous

Fire crews were still putting water on the remains of Gaston’s in Kapuskasing this week as the investigation as to what caused the blaze continues. Deputy Fire Chief Pat Kennedy says the cause of the fire is not considered to be suspicious but they are still awaiting the conformation of the Fire Marshall. An estimated $500,000 in damages were caused by the blaze.

Emergency fire crews from Moonbeam and Kapuskasing were called to the scene and spent several hours trying to put out the fire. By the time fire crews had arrived on the scene residents living above Gaston’s were already out safely.

Kennedy says that residents should always check to make sure the smoke detectors in your house are still working.
