Waiting times for hospital transfers in the northeast are becoming a bigger and bigger problem

Hospital transfers in the northeast are problematic and Temiskaming-Cochrane MPP John Vanthof is calling for action. The MPP says that sometimes patients will have extended wait times for transportation when being transferred for tests. When patients are moved from one hospital to another sometimes they have to wait for hours to be brought home by a taxi.

Timmins James Bay MPP Gilles Bison says one of the reasons this is problematic is due to the lack of funding from the province. He says the province has not kept pace with inflation when it comes to costs. So as costs increases, and your revenue stays the same, you get further and further to the bone in terms of cutting.

Bisson also says the government has made a commitment to raise hospital funding by one per-cent this year and another one per-cent next year.
