Great Lakes Graphite gets $412K from the NOHFC

The Great Lakes Graphite plant in Matheson is getting some support from the Ontario government. The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation is putting over $400,000 into the plant. The money will go into expanding the company’s product line, and into methods to make the company more competitive. Great Lakes CEO Paul Gorman says that will help the company be ultimately more sustainable.

The Minister of Northern Development, Michael Gravelle, says the money will help the company to provide good jobs for residents. Seventy per cent of the funding is a loan, which means the company will have to pay back around $288,000.
