OPP looking for information on a $250K fire to a generating station near Cobalt

A generating station in Cobalt is back up and running, after a fire did around $250,000 in damage. Insulators on hydro poles were damaged by bullets, leading police to believe the destruction was deliberate. Without the insulators working properly, the poles caught fire, putting the generating station out of commission until it was repaired.

The Temiskaming OPP says there are no local residents in the area, and the site is only accessible by boat, ATV, or snowmobile. The damage was done sometime between last October and last month.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
