News Housing strategy for vulnerable citizens in the North East is coming together SHARE ON: Taylor Ablett, staff Tuesday, Jun. 14th, 2016 Over a hundred people are helping the North East LHIN create a housing and health strategy. The Local Health Integration Network just hosted a Housing and Health Planning Day, to create a plan that addresses the needs of vulnerable residents in the area. That includes seniors, the homeless, and those with mental health and addiction challenges. Participants gave their feedback on what this plan should entail, which the LHIN will now create. Housing has been identified as a social determinant of health, and the LHIN is providing over $23 million for assisted living and almost $3 million in mental health and addiction housing supports.
