Gilles Bisson has taken a resident of Hearst’s issues with the TSSA straight to Queen’s Park.
The provincial New Democrat says the Technical Standards Safety Association doesn’t offer its inspections in French. He calls this a huge issue for the north as his riding, Timmins-James Bay, has many Francophone communities within it. Bisson says the issue was brought up after that resident from Hearst couldn’t get the inspection, even with a translator.
He says both Minister of Government and Consumer Service David Orazietti and Minister of Francophone Affairs Madeleine Meilleur seemed very surprised the evaluations weren’t available in French. He says they are going to look into it, and get back to him.
Bisson also points out this isn’t just an issue for Hearst, but for all of Ontario.
