News FONOM Conference kicks off in Timmins today SHARE ON: Taylor Ablett, staff Wednesday, May. 11th, 2016 High ranking politicians will be in Timmins this week for the annual FONOM conference, which begins today. The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities is hosting a trade show and workshops at the Mac all week. On the agenda today is an official launch at 1:00pm, with a keynote speech from former Premier Bob Rae. Some of the workshops today include a look at the forestry industry and agricultural opportunities in northern Ontario. NDP leader Andrea Horwath is also in town today, taking a meeting with Mayor Steve Black, touring the Timmins Hospital, and visiting the McIntyre Powder Project Intake Clinic. Premier Kathleen Wynne will be in town tomorrow. She is giving a speech at 8:15am, and then touring the Kidd Mine later in the morning.
