Fedeli believes it could be because they don’t want to hear what northern mayors and councillors have to say.  Fedeli says it’s like the Liberals are dictating the future to city councils, something northerners don’t like.

The Tory MPP says the Liberals are proposing a ranked ballot where voters determine municipal politicians by who they pick first, second, third and so on.  Right now winners are determined by who gets the most votes.

The PC’s asked that hearings on the proposed change be held in Northern Ontario but the Liberals defeated that with their majority.  Fedeli says by keeping hearings only within Toronto, the Liberals are restricting who can talk on the proposed change.
