News Fire hydrants to be tested over the next few weeks SHARE ON: Taylor Ablett, staff Wednesday, Apr. 20th, 2016 Photo: Supplied by Heather Duhn. City maintenance staff will be out testing fire hydrants in Timmins over the next few weeks. The 11 week job ensures all of the hydrants in town work properly, and are ready to go in case of an emergency. It also verifies flow capacity, and cleans the lines. Crews started at the water filtration plant, and they’ll be working out from there. The majority of the city will see hydrants in their area tested during May. Homeowners may notice low water pressure, or brown water after the testing. Don’t drink or do laundry with the discoloured water. Turn your taps on for around 15 minutes until the water runs clear.
