Highway 11 stunt driving leads to 14 charges

A highway 11 traffic stop is ending in 14 charges for an Elk Lake man. The Temiskaming OPP tried to pull the 43-year-old over on the weekend for stunt driving, but he drove away, getting away from the police. Officers then found his car a couple of hours later on Highway 65, where he fled again. However a spike belt was used, and they managed to stop the accused.

He was taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. During the whole incident, two police cruisers were damaged when they were hit by his car. The 14 charges include careless driving, breaking probation, and possession of property obtained by crime. He has bail hearing in Haileybury tomorrow.
