News An expert on Aboriginal issues is speaking on the Truth and Reconciliation report in Timmins next week SHARE ON: Taylor Ablett, staff Friday, Apr. 8th, 2016 Northern College in Timmins is hosting an event on residential schools next week. It’s happening on Tuesday, and features guest speaker Mike DeGagné, who works with the federal government in management of Aboriginal programs. Dr. DeGagné will be speaking out how to move forward while building on recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The event is being put on by the Rotary Clubs of Matheson and Timmins, and is free to attend. The first 50 people also get a free copy of Dr. DeGagné’s book. The speech is happening at Northern’s Porcupine campus, however it will be live-streamed to the Kirkland Lake, James Bay Coast, and Haileybury campuses.
