The city is moving forward with a request to investigate gas prices.

Councillor John Curley brought forward the idea of an investigation two weeks ago.

Timmins Police suggested they use the Competition Bureau to go ahead with the investigation.

The city clerk will put together a report to submit to the Competition Bureau immediately.

Councillor Todd Lever is concerned about getting the report out before they’re ready. He says more evidence should be collected first so that the Bureau won’t overlook it.

However, Curley is adamant the process get started right away saying “we’ll see where it goes.” He says they could always come back to council to request more information but for now it needs to get underway.
