Answers finally coming out over why an OPP chopper was moved from Sudbury to the south

Nickel Belt MPP France Gelinas has gotten her hands on a 30-page report from the province explaining why an OPP helicopter was moved Sudbury to Orillia. She says it essentially claims it’s because there are more people living in the south than the north. But she calls that an absurd conclusion, and says if you go by that logic there shouldn’t be any hospitals or universities in the north either.

Gelinas also points out the chopper is housed right beside the lake, gets a lake effect, and is in the Snow Belt. That all adds up to mean it is often grounded. The chopper is used for search and rescues amongst other things.
