Hughes says there is still a lot of work to be done to combat racism

Algoma-Manitoulin-Kapuskasing MP Carol Hughes says there’s still much to do to combat racism in many forms. This comes as Hughes spoke at the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination yesterday in the House of Commons. She says the impact of racism isn’t just a social one; it’s mental, physical and economic.

Hughes says racism towards indigenous peoples in Canada is a sad part of our heritage and is calling to other elected officials to set examples for their communities.
