The Timmins Chamber has a mixed reaction to this year’s provincial budget. President Kurt Bigeau says there is some good news, like the tuition cuts, and a $1 billion commitment to infrastructure at the Ring of Fire. However there are still big areas of concern. Bigeau says the proposed cap-and-trade system is going to add fuel costs at a time when electricity prices are skyrocketing. Bigeau says the Chamber is also concerned with how local businesses are going to absorb growing costs, saying it may put them at a disadvantage on the national stage.
