Timmins is getting an additional $555K a year thanks to OCIF upgrade

Some good news for Timmins came out of the Ontario Good Roads Association meeting this week. The Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund is getting a big upgrade, going from $100 million to $300 million. Mayor Steve Black says this means more money for local projects. The city was getting $195,000 a year from the OCIF funds, but that number is going up to just over $750,000. Black says that’s a significant amount, and will allow the city to get started on some projects that they have been trying to figure out how to fund.

The Connecting Link fund is also being doubled, going from $15 million to $30 million. This is something Black has been very vocal about, and says he is happy to see the Premier respond to his concerns.
