Fill an Ambulance Toy Drive set to roll

The tenth annual Cochrane District EMS and DSSAB Fill an Ambulance Toy Drive is this coming Saturday in Timmins.

An ambulance will be parked outside both Canadian Tire and WalMart between 8:00am and 6:00pm. Paramedics and staff from DSSAB will accept your donation of Christmas gifts for kids up to 18.

It all goes to Northeastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services for distribution. Special projects supervisor Carole Hart says the toy drive is always in special need of items for babies

“So we appreciate receiving toys for the children and youth, but we also require items for babies such as diapers, wipes, receiving blankets, bibs, onesies, toys for babies,” she says.

For tweens and teens, Hart suggests things like electronics, hygiene products, hoodies and backpacks.

You can also decide what you’ll contribute while shopping inside either store.

“We do provide a list of the required items for each age group,” Hart notes, adding that you can pick one up on the way in. “It’s just to facilitate the shopping experience for everyone, as we know it can be difficult trying to buy a gift for someone that you don’t know personally.”

Hart suggests that gift cards for Tim Hortons or an evening out are good for teenagers, as well as household items, books and board games.

NEOFACS also serves independent youth up to the age of 21.
