Timmins asking for snow removal cooperation as another 10 cm is on the way

The city is asking residents to be patient and cooperative when it comes to snow removal. This reminder comes as Environment Canada is predicting another 5 to 10 cm tomorrow.

Mayor Steve Black says the snow clearing process is being slowed down by people shovelling their driveways out onto the road. He says in some cases, residents have small front yards and and driveways, and the city tries to get to those areas as early as possible. However in some spots, residents have large yards and are still clearing snow to the end of their driveway or across the street. Black says this complicates travel within the city, as well as snow clearing. In some cases the city has sent by-law officers out to ticket.

Black says there has been a lot of snow in a short period of time, and the crews are working overtime to help accommodate all of the areas requiring snow removal.
