FONOM is working to recognize the contribution of the agriculture sector to northern Ontario’s economy. The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities, the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association, and stakeholders from the forestry sector have created a new strategy called Growing Ontario.

The initiative will represent the interests of grain farmers and forestry workers, along with the cities, that rely on resources to survive. The plan for Growing Ontario is to increase awareness to the contributions from the industry, which represents around $30 billion in economic activity in Ontario.
