It’s not a rosy picture in Timmins and across Ontario when it comes to business confidence in the economy. A study shows that only 31 per cent of businesses in Timmins feel Ontario’s economy is headed in the right direction. That’s almost in line with the provincial average of 30 per cent.
When it comes to expansion, only 39 per cent of Timmins shop owners plan to get bigger over the next five years. Kurt Bigeau, president of the Timmins chamber, says local businesses and those across the province still face major challenges. Bigeau hopes the Liberals work on making things like energy more affordable so industries can be as competitive as those in other provinces.
