A fringe candidate who ran in the Sudbury provincial by-election this year and faced criminal charges is a free man. David Popsecu was charged with inciting hatred and advocating genocide during the February campaign. It’s alleged the 68-year-old was distributing campaign literature promoting hatred and genocide toward a specific group. However the Crown has withdrawn all charges, it’s not clear why.

In 2008 during a political debate, the 68-year perennial fringe candidate was charged after saying all homosexuals should be executed. He got a suspended sentence and 18 months probation for the comment.
