Pitch to four lane Highway 11 is gaining momentum

The proposal to expand Highway 11 to four lanes from North Bay to Cochrane is still moving forward according to Kapuskasing’s CAO Yves Labelle. Labelle says thanks to larger organizations in municipalities like NEOMA and FONOM there is a lot of support for the plan. Labelle says the two organizations are doing their best to keep the line of communication open with the MTO.

The original request came from Temiskaming Shores which then earned the support of many municipalities including Timmins, Cochrane, and Kapuskasing.

A wider highway would mean an increased speed limit, a centre turning lane and would warrant greater snow removal along the Highway 11 corridor.
