A woman has died in Cochrane after her car broke through the ice on Commando Lake. It happened Monday night, and by the time multiple police and EMS teams got to the scene, the car was partially submerged. The 75-year-old driver was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

As the investigation continues, police say foul play isn’t a factor. A post-mortem is scheduled for tomorrow in Sudbury to determine how the car ended up in the lake, and the cause of the death. Police are not releasing the woman’s name.
