A proposed Municipal Land Tax from the province might mean more costs for new homeowners in the Northeast. Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson says this tax is a band-aid for Ontario to cover costs.
He says this is another example of Ontario downloading costs onto municipalities, and he says the Connecting Link is proof.
Bisson says homeowners are going to have to pick up the tab for the province putting too many costs on the city’s shoulders. The Land Tax bill is still in committee, which means it hasn’t passed yet and Bisson says now is the time to give the province feedback.
