New documents show the Liberals were going to tax Cliffs up to $34M a year at the Ring of Fire

New information on the Ring of Fire is shedding new light on the stalled chromite project. MPP for Algoma-Manitoulin Mike Mantha says inside sources are claiming Noront Resources are pulling out of the project by the end of next month because of lack of action by the province. After eight years, the Liberals still don’t have agreements with First Nations to develop the site and haven’t said how the ore will be moved out of the remote James Bay region.

Meanwhile, the Tory Finance Critic Vic Fedeli says new documents are showing the Liberals were going to tax Cliffs up to $34-million a year. Fedeli wants to know if that’s why they pulled out, but the Liberals maintain it was because of market conditions.
