The clocks fall back tomorrow night. Daylight Savings is ending at 2:00am on November 1st, so set them back an hour before going to bed on Halloween.
The shift is to accommodate the end of daylight savings, which started in early March. The idea, which started in Germany during the First World War, was to save energy. It allowed people to benefit from the daylight in the spring, so they didn’t sleep through the sunshine in the morning.
This is also the time of the year the Fire Department recommends you switch the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
