Flu clinics start in Timmins tomorrow with an upgraded vaccine

The province is saying a new flu vaccine is giving kids better protection this year. This year’s shot protects against a second strain of influenza, which affects kids more than adults. It also comes in a nasal spray form for children aged two to 17.

Ontario’s Health Minister, Dr. Eric Hoskins, says this is good news because it makes it a lot to easier to administer the vaccine, and for kids to receive it. He says it’s also important to note that the spray is more effective than the injectable vaccine in kids between the ages of two and five.

The flu clinics start in Timmins tomorrow at the Whitney Arena. Go in anytime on Wednesday or Thursday between 10:00am and 3:00pm for the vaccine. Drop-in clinics at the Porcupine Health Unit start on November 2nd.
