As fall begins the OPP is making sure everyone is closing their cottages and camps safely. Police say one of the less-thought about mistakes is announcing plans or giving out information on whereabouts over social media. The OPP says engraving items, keeping serial numbers and installing motion lights are great deterrents against theft. Police say trusting a neighbour or checking your property yourself over the winter months is a good way to keep tabs on your property.
