OPP celebrating 400 years of French presence in Ontario

The South Porcupine OPP is honouring 400 years of French presence in Ontario this week. Detachments across the north east are going to pay homage to Franco-Ontarians with a flag-raising and an open house. September 25th also recognizes another milestone. The Franco-Ontario flag was flown for the first time in our area at the University of Sudbury on September 25th, 1975.

In the north east, the OPP has 22 French designated detachments, with over 800 bilingual officers. The open house is at police headquarters on Harold Avenue on Friday, from 10:00am until noon.
