If this was a typical winter, it would have been a cold, dark Saturday night in the east end of Timmins.
City police communications coordinator Marc Depatie reports that a pick-up truck hit a parked vehicle and a hydro pole at about 7:00pm, on Main St. at Essa Ave.
“This resulted in a significant power outage in the area, affecting South Porcupine and portions of Porcupine as well,” Depatie adds. “Officers were able to determine that the driver’s comportment met the threshold of careless driving, which is any instance where you are driving without due care and attention or consideration for other persons using the roadway.”
That careless driving charge was laid against the 32-year-old driver, a South Porcupine man.
Depatie says no one was hurt, but both vehicles were “significantly damaged.”
