NEOFACS is raising awareness about Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder this afternoon. They are hosting a barbecue to educate young people on the dangers of drinking while pregnant. Neofacs Program Coordinator, Rachel Pelletier says FASD is something kids are born with. She says says the disorder is transmitted to kids if the mother drinks while pregnant. She says no amount of alcohol is safe, because every stage of development could affect the brain. Pelletier says FASD is sometimes visible through facial features, and something through difficulties coping with everyday life. The barbecue is at the Hollinger Park at 4pm. There will also be a booth set up during Welcome to Timmins night at 6:30pm at the Mac.
