O’Gorman HS students perform two plays; one of them about the local opioid crisis

One of two plays performed by O’Gorman High School students that will be staged this Thursday night is about Timmins, written by the school’s lay chaplain.

Mke Buhler says “Overdose” is about the opioid crisis, based on his sympathy and interaction with addicts.

“On a political level, there’s the problem of dirty streets and unsafe streets,” he points out. “So I guess I felt like I wanted to – how can I put this politely? – put a personality to the addiction crisis.”

The play is centered on the last 35 minutes of a 20-year-old dealer and user’s life.

“His girlfriend, who’s sort of the mule for carrying drugs, brings him the latest package and then he’s going to use and have an overdose.”

Buhler says the play has some comedic moments.  The second one, called Apostrophes, is a comedy.

Note the location: the theatre at TH&VS at 7:00pm Thursday.
