Another weekend, more snow headed to our region in a system from Colorado

Again this weekend, we can shake our collective fist at a cloud coming out of Colorado.

Environment Canada meteorologist Gerald Cheng says a weather system will bring 10 to 15cm of snow to Timmins, Cochrane and Iroquois Falls between tomorrow afternoon and Sunday morning.

“The system is tracking farther south, so places south and east will get more snow,” Cheng outlines, “but Kapuskasing is not entirely out of the woods. It’s just that there are no alerts, so less snow obviously for the Kapuskasing area.”

“Weekend is really a time when people travel, and especially if you’re travelling along the 101 or the 11, you not only have to know what the weather is like in your area, but the destination as well.”

The further south you travel, the worse it’ll get.  Kirkland Lake and North Bay are both under a snowfall warning for up to 20cm of new snow, possibly mixed with ice pellets.
