A Timmins woman is helping to Paint Canada Pink. Kerry Cannie was picked to be on a billboard across the province to raise awareness for the CIBC Run for the Cure in October. Cannie is running with her team, “Save Second Base”, who is also featured on the billboard.
Cannie says this is a personal campaign for her. Her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer six years ago, and she was diagnosed three years ago. But she says this is a good news story, not a sad one. Cannie says she can run, and she is grateful for that because many others can’t.
A flag has been raised at City Hall in honour of Paint Canada Pink, and a billboard of Save Second Base is in the parking lot at Cedar and Algonquin. Cannie says she is out of her comfort zone, but if she helps just one woman, it’s all worth it.
