No funding has been committed for the Connecting Link, but there has been a step forward. Mayor Steve Black was down in Niagara Falls to meet with other municipalities and ministers this week.
In those meeting, he spoke with the Minister of Northern Development, Michael Gravelle, and the Transportation Minister, Steven Del Duca. Black says the Connecting Link was on their agenda. They talked about the infrastructure funds that are available now, but they are all application based.
So, Black says, the three are going to meet after the design study is finished on the 21-kilometre section of the highway, to see what the funding options will be. The mayor says getting that face-to-face commitment is a good step forward.
