Ideas welcome for recreation, culture and tourism in Timmins to update master plan

A decade-old recreation, culture and tourism master plan for Timmins is under renewal and updating.

City clerk Steph Palmateer says the same consultant from the 2013 master plan is onboard to help clarify where the city is headed in those areas.

It’s planning meetings with stakeholders and user groups.

“As well,” Palmateer adds, “we’ve launched a website to gain community feedback, so members of the community — as well if some of the users can’t attend some of the public meetings, that they can submit their comments on line or via email.”

The city and its consultant are looking for the whole gamut of suggestions on what to do in those areas over the next several years.

“What kind of facilities or improvements,” Palmateer adds, “whether it be recreation trails, biking trails, arenas, other facilities, culture, tourism.”

The new plan is anticipated to be presented for council approval in April.
