A new Grand Chief has been elected at Mushkegowuk

Mushkegowuk First Nations has elected a new Grand and Deputy Grand Chief. Jonathon Solomon has been elected as Grand Chief, while Rebecca Friday is taking over as Deputy Grand Chief. The elections were held on Saturday. Ontario Regional Chief Isadore Day calls the two dedicated, and says Mushkegowuk is in good hands.

The Mushkegowuk Council is one of seven in the Nishnawbe Aski Nation, which represents Cree communities in the Northeast. Those are the Attawapiskat First Nation, Chapleau Cree First Nation, Fort Albany First Nation, Kashechewan First Nation, Missanabie Cree First Nation, Moose Cree First Nation and Taykwa Tagamou Nation (New Post).
