Timmins Square hosts Socks Timmins collection site for the rest of this month

The count is in, and Timmins Kinette Club member Erin Thomson is ready to announce how well her group and Country 93.1 did, collecting socks for Socks Timmins during the Santa Claus Parade a couple weeks back.

“We managed to collect 727 pairs of socks,” she proudly states. “Those socks will be handed out in the community to some of our most vulnerable neighbours.”

You also came through by filling the biggest need at that time.  Thomson says almost all of those socks are for women and children.

And now, there’s a place to drop off some socks at Timmins Square.

“The bin is sitting near Santa’s Village, beside a lovely Christmas tree and it is there until December 31st to collect socks from any people who are out and about shopping and able to spread some Christmas cheer.”

The biggest need currently is for men’s socks.

There’s also a bin at Giant Tiger at Porcupine Mall. And Thomson says if you have a small space in your office or store to collect socks year-round, she’d love to hear from you.
