‘Singin’ Swingin’ Christmas’ latest Timmins Symphony Orchestra offering

If it’s Christmas music you want – performed live – the Timmins Symphony Orchestra has a gift for you.

On Saturday, December 17th at Ecole Secondaire Thériault, it presents “A Singin’ Swingin’ Christmas”.

Director Josh Wood says it features the Symphony Chorus and the choirs of Timmins Centennial and W. Earle Miller Public Schools.

“And they’re going to be singing a version of Silent Night that’s in both English and French,” he says. “So it’s a nice little ensemble that’s put together and that’s going to be done with the orchestra and with the TSO Chorus as well.”

The second half has the Timmins All-Star Big Band adding some jazz to the proceedings.

“We do several tunes with the orchestra and the big band together and then the big band does some tunes just on their own,” Wood states. “Jazzed up versions of Christmas carols, you know, some of your favourite Christmas jazz tunes.”

Show time on the 17th is 8:00pm  at Ecole Secondaire Theriault.  Wood advises you to buy advance tickets, which are available at the Timmins Museum. They’re $40 for adults, $15.00 if you’re under 30 and $5.00 for under 12.
