Back to the roots of the BIA’s Holiday Fun Day

After dealing with a couple COVID-19 monkey wrenches, the Downtown Timmins BIA’s Holiday Fun Day is back to its traditional self this year.

“We’re going to have so many free, family fun, friendly activities,” enthuses BIA executive director Cindy Campbell.

Second Ave. will be closed this Saturday between the library and the museum for all the indoor and outdoor activities between 1:00pm and 4:00pm. Emergency vehicles will be there to check out, and so much more, including a visit with Santa Claus.

“This is an absolutely free even for our children,” Campbell adds. “We also have bonfires in the middle of Second Ave. and marshmallow roasting.”

She says it’s a return to the event we had, before a certain pandemic changed things.  Last year, for instance, visiting with Santa Claus had a socially distanced aspect to it.

“This year, it’s right back in the library. So we’ll have some storytelling while kids are waiting to see Santa Claus but yes, we did miss one year in 2020 due to COVID.”

The complete list of what’s going on indoors and outdoors is on the BIA’s Facebook page.
