‘FIFA Fever’ hits Schumacher Croatian Hall when Croatia plays Canada at World Cup

The stars seldom align like this. Croatia is set to play Canada at the FIFA World Cup of soccer – Europeans call it “football” – next Sunday morning our time.

The Schumacher Croatian Society is taking advantage of it by having “FIFA Fever” at its hall.

Executive committee member Jasmine Chenier says the hall opens at 9:00am.

“We will be serving a traditional Croatian breakfast. So we will have some delicious palachinka,, which is kind like a crepe,” she says. “We will have some awesome delicious foods served 9:00-11:00. Game will start, bar will open at 11:00 which is going to be awesome.”

Chenier adds that he hall will remain open until 4:00pm.

“Folks will actually have a chance to keep socializing even after the game and sort of see the hall, see some of the renovations we have started as well.”

Details on the various options for admission prices are on the Schumacher Croatian Society website.

Explaining her last name, Chenier says she’s fourth-generation Croatian-Canadian, getting it from her great grandparents.
