During a home opener ceremony prior to Friday’s NOJHL game in Cochrane, the host Cochrane Crunch and visiting Timmins Rock gathered at centre ice for a moment silence in memory of Eli Palfreyman.
The 20-year-old captain of the Ayr Centennials of the Greater Ontario Hockey League collapsed in the dressing room during the first period intermission of a pre-season tournament game Aug. 31. He was pronounced dead in hospital.
