In 41 years, Timmins has never missed holding an annual Terry Fox Run. Number 42 is Sunday, September 18th from 11:00am until 2:00pm.
Local chair Cathy Davis says one innovation this year is a cashless option to turn in the money you gather for the cause.
“If there are people that come by just with their phones and would like to give a donation that way, we’re ready for that,” she notes.
It also works for debit and credit cards. Cheques work, too, if they’re made out to the Terry Fox Foundation.
“The two main reasons why we’re continuing this is number one, just to keep our Canadian hero’s memory alive,” remarks Davis. “We just want to continue that legacy.”
Expenses incurred organizing the run are kept to a minimum, so that as much money as possible goes to cancer research.
Information is on the Terry Fox Foundation website and the local Facebook page.
