Lyme disease season is now in full swing.  Lyme is caused by ticks, which Interim Chief Medical Health Officer, Dr. David Williams, says are found in the woods.  He says even if you’ve just been walking in long grass, check for little bugs.  Williams says the tick has to be attached for more than 24 hours before it can pass on the disease.   Although the Porcupine Health Unit says there have been no cases of Lyme in Timmins area, in the Algoma District, someone has developed Lyme in the Blind River area.
