Traffic changes on Legion Dr.

Driving and parking on Legion Dr. in South Porcupine are being reined back a bit.

The 40 km/h speed limit past Roland Michener Secondary School is being extended to Bloor St.

Timmins public works director Ken Krcel acknowledges that some people want it to run from the highway, which is Harold Ave., all the way to Bruce Ave. Instead, it will be from 150 m either side of the school property.

“When I drove the area, it’s apparent that it’s the first sign you see once you turn onto Legion Dr.” Krcel told city council,”so moving it to Harold really doesn’t benefit the area at all. A car can’t accelerate fast enough to get up to above 40 kmh in 75 m unless they’re actually street racing.”

Parking in front of RMSS is also being banned.  The no-parking zone will mirror the one on the other of the school, on Moore St.
