Parking to be banned on Ross Ave. at Pine St.

Parking is being banned on both sides of Ross Ave. for a short distance east of Pine St.

Public works director Ken Krcel says it’s for reconfiguration of the roadway for a left turn lane, and bike lanes next to both curbs.

“We have the room on the platform as long as we don’t have anybody parking next to the sidewalks and impeding the turning lanes and the through lanes,” he explains “This is just an adjustment to make sure that we have proper traffic movement. We’re looking for a no-parking zone for 65 metres on both sides of Ross starting at Pine, heading easterly.”

SAY GOODBYE TO BIRCH ST., NORTH OF NINTH AVE.

Still on the streets of Timmins, Birch St. north of Ninth Ave. will soon  be closed, and sold to the English Catholic school board.  That short stretch of road runs between the board office and Pope Francis Elementary School. The land will be used for an expanded school playground.

This portion of Birch St. N. is being sold to the Northeastern Catholic District School Board. The board office is on the left; Pope Francis Elementary School on the right.
