Concert series in Lions Park celebrates Schumacher’s 110th anniversay

A series of six free outdoor concerts are planned for the rest of the summer, to celebrate Schumacher’s 110th anniversary.

It’s a joint project between the Schumacher Lions Club and The Schumacher Arts, Culture and Heritage Association (SACHA).

Lions past-president Mark West says the first concert is set for this coming Tuesday at 7:00pm in Schumacher Lions Park.  They’ll happen every second Tuesday through September.

“If this is very successful this year,” West observes, “we would like to turn this into an annual community event for the town of Schumacher.”

Being on Tuesdays, the concerts don’t conflict with the Wednesday Summer Concert Series at Hollinger Park.

“If we have a rainout – say Tuesday it rained, well then it would go to the following Tuesday,” West explains about the every-second-Tuesday schedule. “So we have a Tuesday in between that we can use in case of a rainout.”

The concert series is supported by Country 93.1 and Paul Sebalj Music, among other businesses and organizations.

The concerts are free, but West says there will be a cheer pot available for donations.
