Council now has a vacancy to fill

Now that George Pirie is MPP-Elect, Timmins City Hall has a council vacancy to fill.

Council has 60 days to decide what to do.  It can confirm Kristin Murray as interim mayor and either appoint someone to replace her as a Ward 5 councillor, or hold a byelection.

If it takes the byelection route, the time frame is tighter.  It can only be called outside of 90 days before the municipal election on October 24th.

The next council will be sworn in early in December.
